This first piece is one of the few 3D works in my exhibit, and I had so much fun giving the spheres their own personality. I was able to decide how they would wiggle, the speed of their movements, and the little quirks that made each one unique. While these details might seem small, they play a big role in giving objects their personality and bringing them to life.
I love working with fine lines, but incorporating all these niche effects was a new challenge for me. To better understand the techniques, I spent hours watching tutorials, with YouTube creators like Ivan Cortez and Stephen Zammit being invaluable resources. A lot of credit goes to artists who generously share their knowledge online, it’s inspiring to see how much we can learn from and support one another in the creative community.
Creating these effects reminds me a lot of working with watercolor, you can’t fully control the medium, and that’s part of the magic. You learn to embrace its unpredictability, letting it guide the process rather than forcing it. The beauty lies in surrendering to the medium, allowing it to shape the outcome in ways you might not expect.
